JOB TITLE: Security Guard
DIRECT REPORT: Store Manager
POSITION SUMMARY: The Retail Store Security Guard is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of customers, employees, and store property. This role helps prevent theft, responds to security incidents, and maintains a safe shopping environment by providing a visible security presence and excellent customer service.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following, but not limited to:
Monitor store premises through regular patrols and surveillance systems.
Deter theft and fraudulent activity by maintaining a visible presence and observing customer and employee behavior.
Respond to incidents of shoplifting, disturbances, or emergencies in a professional and safe manner.
Assist with apprehending and detaining suspects in accordance with company policy and local laws.
Write clear and accurate incident reports, documenting security-related events.
Maintain knowledge of store policies, emergency procedures, and evacuation plans.
Collaborate with store management and law enforcement when required.
Provide courteous assistance to customers and employees when needed, including directions, safety information, or general support including checking sales receipts for accuracy.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and security regulations.
Qualifications & Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or loss prevention preferred.
Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Physically fit to stand, walk, and respond quickly to incidents.
Knowledge of basic security and safety procedures.
Valid security license or certification (as required by local law).
Working Conditions:
Indoor retail environment with occasional outdoor patrols.
Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
May involve standing or walking for extended periods.
